Colm Holmes, President & CEO of Aviva Canada, responds to Ontario Minister of Finance Victor Fedeli’s delivery of the 2018 Fall Economic Statement

November 15, 2018 (Toronto, ON)– "Today, the Ontario Government has established policy objectives to modernize insurance, to improve affordability, to reduce the regulatory burden, and to foster innovation. Aviva fully supports all these principles.

Auto insurance reform can’t happen quickly enough for consumers. At Aviva, we strive to be the customer champion for drivers in Ontario and across Canada, and we advocate for reform of the auto insurance regulatory system as part of that goal.

Regulatory burdens add unnecessary inefficiency to the system and prevent the insurance industry from embracing and implementing consumer-friendly innovation quickly. Reforming the regulatory system can drive down costs, increase healthy competition, and accelerate much-needed innovation for customers while providing them with choice, transparency, and stability.

We look forward to working closely and collaboratively with the Government of Ontario to deliver meaningful change to Ontario drivers so that we can reward good drivers with the right coverage and the best service at a fair price."
